About Modele

Modele's style of music blends Jazz and Soul with a touch of Reggae riding on traditional African rhythm. She combines inspirational, motivational songs characterized by a strong sense of personal style and an immense depth of lyrical content, woven together in musical pieces. In her words, 'I find that most times, the words I write converse with the deepest parts of the soul, usually hidden away from the casual acquaintance' A graduate of Electrical Engineering from University of Ilorin (Nigeria), Modele doubles as passionate singer/songwriter, with a career in IT and makes a conscious effort to protect her passion for music! Growing up in the heart of Jos, Nigeria, her earliest musical influences included the rich sounds of 'Sikulu' from South Africa, Bongos Ikwe, Tracy Chapman and The Beatles. Modele released HEARTCRY, a 10-track debut album in 2004. A year later a 2-track Single titled Titi lailai was released. The Single was produced by Multiple Award-Winning Producer, Cobhams Asuquo. Modele has shared the stage/vocal booth with several renowned musicians/artistes at home and abroad including Dr.Ron Kenoly, Onyeka Onwenu, Mike Aremu, to mention a few. In 2006,Modele was one of the leading acts in the CJAM concert at Fairfield hall in Croydon, London. She was invited to be a part of the concert the following year. In 2007, back home in Nigeria, Modele had a brief stint in the world of actors when she featured in the first season of popular TV Soap Opera series, 'Tinsel' . Later that year, Modele was featured as the main artiste at the CMS tent during the Greenbelt Festival in Cheltenham, UK. She also performed in the festival in August, 2008. In the same year 2008, she opened the Nigeria Entertainment Awards (NEA) Ceremony in New York, USA. She played the same role in the NEA Awards of the year 2010 in same city. Early in 2010, Modele teamed up with notable Nigerian artistes to write and record the song 'Maga No Need Pay' a MICROSOFT initiated musical project aimed at combating cyber crimes. In September of that year, Modele was back in New York as guest performer at the 2nd Annual First Ladies International Round Table Forum. The forum was part of activities during the UN Summit, and focused on global initiatives for coordinating and financing Malaria and Sickle Cell Research. After a long break since her last album, Modele is back in the studio working on her next album. In the meantime, the long awaited Single 'Thankful' is finally here. Modele is happily married with two lovely children.
