About Chopstix
Malcom Olagundoye also known as Chopstix is an award-winning producer from Nigeria. Known for his versatility and flexible style that highlights hip-hop and dancehall, he has found a way of creating hybrid sounds from a blend of different genres of music. The multi-talented producer doubles up as a performer and a creative director. His hit single Stinking S* from his upcoming debut album Parallax features members of the Grip Muzik family: Ice Prince, Young L and Endia. The song ignited a movement that went viral on social media, earning him international recognition and award nominations at the Nigerian Music Video Awards (2014). Making his third return on Coke Studio Africa this year, Chopstix will be producing the following artiste pairings: Navy Kenzo (Tanzania) and Dama do Bling (Mozambique), X-Maleya (Cameroon) and Betty G, (Ethiopia); and Yemi Alade (Nigeria) and Nyashinski (Kenya). Chopstix is the man behind the initial sound of some of Nigeria’s top music acts. They include Ice Prince, MI, Phyno, Cynthia Morgan and Burna Boy. Beyond African borders, he has worked with Wale and French Montana (USA), Chip (London) and Dj Jimmy Jatt. His own discography boasts of African A-list artistes, including his banger Number 1 featuring Cynthia Morgan, Shaydee and Young L. Other are Ice Prince’s Aboki, Endia’s 48, Yung L’s SOS and Shooga and Komotion by Ice Prince and Wizkid. Chopstix was born and bred in the Northern part of Nigeria and later moved to Lagos to establish a wider base for his music. After completing his studies at the Ahmadu Bello University he immersed himself into fulltime music production a move that has paid off. He plays an instrumental role as one of the producers exporting Nigerian music to the world. With a decade in the music industry and counting, Chopstix is still achieving milestones and producing music that continues to shape the new pop sound of Africa.
