About Azadus

Olalekan Fadeyi a.k.a Azadus (A Zealous and Determined Unbowed soldier) was born in the early 70’s into a Christian and polygamous home, got his music skills from his mum and his swag from his pops; he is the master in his kind of music. He began writing songs in the 80’s and started his music career in the 90’s; he was automatically admitted into his church choir after a talent hunt. In 1995 he joined Nigeria’s hip hop movement DEF “O”CLAN, together with his crew Def “o” clan, they rock shows and burnt mics in series of concerts like jimmy jatt’s road block, Benson and hedges grab the mic competition, lekky sun splash just to mention a few. Though azadus plays reggae music basically, the infusion of Rap, r n b and soul makes his music unique. Azadus stood out in every performance because of his unique voice and most especially his confidence and stage craft. In 1999 he featured in tony tetuila’s album (morning time) also showed how talented he is in plantainshun boiz body and soul. His crew def “o” clan came out with a sing along single kilonso that had his voice blazing all over the hook. In the year 2000 he signed up with the foremost record label in the country (kennis music) with kennis music, his self titled debut had club bangers like you is the one, a self titled track, sodiyen, say me well e.t.c. His second album became an out right success in and out of the country, the album generated controversies over his nationality because of his rear brand of music. This album (distinguished) gave him series of awards and nominations in and out of the country. At the kora awards he was nominated under the reggae artiste of the year category, which made him the first reggae artiste to have the nomination in the country. His third album had nothing but sell-outs such as Hands in the air, Make sense, my story e.t.c. despite his gun shot wounds from men of the under world.
